Position Overview

The Sales Executive is responsible for leading and managing all sales activities pertaining to the local market (DMCs) and the sales and management of groups. The individual acts as the point of contact for his or her leisure and/or boutique MICE/corporate clients, highly contributing to business generation, ensuring that all direct sales activities are aligned with the strategies that are laid out in the S&M Plan and other target action plans and that both individual's and resort's quotas and goals are met so to maximise the overall profit, whilst maintaining a high standard of work and ensuring solid relationships with internal and external guests and/or decision makers and subsequently excellent guest satisfaction.

Assigned markets: Local Market and Groups worldwide inclusive of weddings and special events.

The Role

  • Develop sales action plans to target leisure and targeted boutique MICE business from new accounts, associations and wedding planners while maintaining and develop business with existing clients in the assigned area.
  • Proactively identifies, qualifies, and solicits for new business to achieve your personal and the resort's revenue goals by building network and relationships with higher-profile clientele to generate sales leads, optimizing potential revenue for the company.
  • Establish a regular core pattern for meetings with principals of assigned markets.
  • Maintain regular contact via emails in order to achieve the resort's performance and individual budget set by the management.
  • Conduct and organize site inspections within the resort.
  • Be the main contact for the Design Hotels group requests that are received: follow up on all enquiries that are received from the aforementioned Design Hotels offices and ensure timely action is taken in case the resort wishes to take part in proposed Design Hotels initiatives and coordinate with the Director of Revenue in case required rates are to be loaded in the system timely and correctly.
  • Submit weekly sales call plan and entertainment plans for the following week to DOS every Wednesday by 3pm.
  • To produce sales call report after each sales call and update the client details whenever there is a change in their details so to ensure our database is up to date at all times.
  • To submit weekly sales activity report to DOS every Wednesday by 3pm.
  • Develop a quarterly action plan that will address the accounts needs and demands and must be reviewed with the Director of Sales and Director of Sales & Marketing on a quarterly basis. This includes tactical plan of action and development of other key accounts.
  • To reply to all quotations within 12 hours and with the rate guidelines given by the Director of Revenue. If rates are outside of approved rate guidelines, approval from the Director of Sales & Marketing is required.
  • Plan and execute a series of familiarization tours to profile the resort and engage with clients for boutique MICE and individual leisure business. Clients may include: meeting planners, incentive operators, corporate travel planners, wedding planners, leisure agents, wholesalers and other industry personnel as applicable for the market segments.
  • Ensure a sales focus on all facilities including food and beverage, catering and spa, inclusive of all experiences.
  • To participate actively in the annual Sales & Marketing Plan for your assigned area.
  • Ensure monthly reports for assigned client portfolio and markets are accurate.
  • Ensure files, correspondence and other relevant business documentation are maintained and filed accordingly.
  • Always be alert and keep management fully updated on any trade related development which can affect the business level of the resort.
  • Coordinate with Sales Coordinator once business deal for an event is closed for their smooth follow ups and execution.
  • Participate in trade shows, conventions and promotional events as appropriate and in line with the budget, S&M plan and direction given by superiors.
  • Monitor account activity (production) for the resort of the assigned portfolio and make adjustments and take timely action when necessary.
  • Anticipate guest's needs through observation and offer prompt, efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other colleagues.
  • Align working practices and conduct with the company's mantra; consistently strive to meet and exceed the expectations of both internal and external guests.
  • Involve management in aspects of decision making for your accounts by participating actively in all meetings and get their input into winning and negotiating business.
  • Display creativity and initiative and display leadership skills by being able to operate with minimum supervision.
  • Co-operate with all departments within the resort and with the adjoining resorts in the Fari Islands.
  • Be flexible with your tasks within reason; lateral service of all of our colleagues is expected at the resort.
  • Presents oneself in a professional manner that enhances the overall guest/customer experience, by adding life and energy into each presentation/sales call, staying true to oneself and the brand and to ensure we never overpromise or under deliver any of our services.
  • To maintain the strictest confidentiality on all matters relating to Patina Maldives, Fari Islands inclusive of all other sales and personnel related matters as well as that of our guests; we safeguard the privacy of our guests at all times.
  • Ensures that all tasks assigned by superiors are completed, in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that channels of communication are respected and information is disseminated to the correct receivers.
  • Maintains highest levels of personal hygiene at all times.
  • To be fully aware about all health and safety, fire and emergency procedures.
  • Responsible to report any potential hazardous situations within the work place.
  • Maintains a high standard of appearance and grooming at all times, as per Patina standard.
  • Apply and adhere to rules and regulations as per Colleague Handbook, departmental and resort policies and procedures, including those for the emergency situations.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the overall organization's mission, vision and values.
  • Handles any guest's complaint in a professional manner, as per resort's Policy & Procedure (service recovery).
  • Practices proper telephone etiquette with colleagues and resort's guests.
  • Ensures all activities are carried out honestly, ethically and within the parameters of the Maldivian Law.

You should agree to undertake these duties as long as the request is reasonable and will not affect your health, safety or security. Assigned markets may be changed due to a shift in market developments.

Talent Profile Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business / Sales and Marketing Management.

Work Experience:

  • 1-2 years experiences in a similar role at a luxury hotel/resort.

Skills Set:

  • Excellent selling skills and understanding of sales processes.
  • Strong analytical skills to develop and review reports and determine other opportunities and ways to increase business levels.
  • Systems knowledge (PMS and S&C Opera) and software knowledge (Microsoft Office, etc.).

  • Able to adapt to change and must be able to work under pressure.
