Position Overview

The Public Area Attendant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all public areas of the resort according to Housekeeping Department service standards. The Public Area Attendant promotes a positive image of the resort to guests and must be pleasant, honest, friendly and should also able to address guest requests and issues in a timely manner.

The Role

  • Be fully aware and comply with all fire and evacuation procedures as well as health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of the housekeeping department and procedures.
  • Ensure resort equipment, tools, keys and supplies are handled properly, kept in good working condition, regularly inspected, follow instructions as directed, and ensure colleagues also comply to these standards.
  • Report maintenance deficiencies and items requiring maintenance and follow-up on progress until completion.
  • Report hazard issues, follow-up and communicate deficiencies to direct manager.
  • Carry out lost and found procedures.
  • Ensure the standards of cleanliness and orderliness in all working areas.
  • Efficiently handle guest complaints using MIR (Make It Right).
  • Ensure exceptional level of customer service at all times by providing personal assistance to guests with a professional, pleasant and positive manner.
  • Be proactive and observant in service to pre-exempt guest needs.
  • Adhere to the resort grooming standards including uniform dress code, cleanliness and personal hygiene.
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships.
  • Attend training and meetings when required.
  • Assist guests with all enquiries and complaints, and provide accurate information to guests about the resort facilities and features.
  • Manage master keys in your possession.
  • Undertake regular deep cleaning tasks, i.e. monthly deep cleaning and high dusting, floor buffing, etc.
  • Regularly check public areas and restrooms taking remedial action where necessary.
  • Apply the standards of excellence in customer service.
  • Remove all trash traces and refill amenities (soap, gel etc.) and clean linen (towels).
  • Clean floors: vacuum, sweep, dust, mop, wash, strip, wax, buff, shampoo rugs.
  • Wash windows, walls and rubbish bins.
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, and woodwork.
  • Collect and empty trash receptacles and pick-up litter in and around buildings.
  • Clean, sanitize and toilets / bathrooms; change and clean shower curtains.
  • Carry out a specialized custodial/maintenance function, such as refinishing floors, project cleaning and the like.
  • Check all electrical appliances (lamps, telephones) in public areas.
  • Check all other technical aspects such as door locks, shower, hot-cold water, WC flush, blinds, curtains etc.
  • Manage stock of pantry supply and amenities.
  • Report anything or anyone suspicious to the Duty Manager immediately.
  • Take pro-active action towards protecting the resort environment.
  • Understand and strictly adhere to the policies and procedures established in the Colleagues Handbook.
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities that are reasonable as assigned by the immediate supervisor or manager.

Talent Profile Qualifications:

  • High school education certification / diploma or degree, preferably in Hospitality Management.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a similar position in luxury resort/hotel.
